Up-and-coming country/pop artist Jessie James just completed her first tour of U.S. bases, but it was not exactly a new experience for her. "I was born on a military base, and I was raised around the military," the 21-year-old self-described military brat said. "It was just part of my life." James wrapped up her first Tour for the Troops with a concert for airmen and families at RAF Lakenheath, England, this month, performing alongside musician Kid Rock and comedian Carlos Mencia. The tour also included stops in Iraq, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Germany, playing with the Band of the Air Force Reserve.
The daughter of an Air Force fighter pilot, she was born in Italy and lived in 14 different places as a child. She says her experience with different environments and cultures made her a more sociable person and provided her with a good supply of experiences to write about. James burst onto the scene last August with her self-titled debut album. She performed her most popular song, "Wanted," and others during the two-week-long tour, which James said has "definitely been an eye-opener." She said performing for the troops is something she had dreamed of doing, and would definitely return if asked. "It’s a good feeling because you know that [the troops] appreciate it," James told Stars and Stripes before her final concert. "Because of their living situation over here and what they are doing, you can tell that they need it and appreciate it, and that every minute that we’re here counts."
Even at an early age, James was destined for the stage. When she was 9 she stole the spotlight at a talent show in Baker, La. James recalled contestants of all ages: senior citizens, adults and teens."Some of these people had been entering talent shows their whole life, and I had never done it and I won," James said. "After that I was like, ‘I guess I’m really good.’ I loved being on stage, and I loved performing. … After that, I got a guitar and I just took off." James is currently working on a second album. TOUR FOR THE TROOPS INTERVIEW

|
|
After an opening performance from the Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, the concert rolled on as up-and-coming country/pop artist Jessie James entertained with her eclectic style of music, jamming to her hit songs such as "Wanted," and "My Cowboy."
Although this is Ms. James' first overseas military tour, she is no stranger to the military and was excited for the chance to do her part.
"My dad's been in the Air Force my whole life, so this is all I've ever known, and it just feels really good to be able to give back," the Italian-born singer said. "Growing up in a military household has definitely made me appreciative of our military. I've been taught to respect all of our military and peers in general. I just think the military is such a classy organization, and it teaches people respect and discipline. This [tour] is just me saying 'thank you.'"
The daughter of an Air Force fighter pilot, Ms. James said being a military dependent gained her the social skills needed to travel on the road to success.
"I think being a military brat, there are so many benefits involved with it because you get to travel all over the world and live in different countries -- I got to live in 14 different places," she said. "Because of that, I've gotten to meet so many different people. So, I think it's helped me in many, many ways, and I'm proud of it." SOURCE
Jessie James appreciated the opportunity the tour allows to give back to the troops. "If [the troops] were not here, I don't think I would be able to perform back in the U.S. because I don't believe any of us would have the freedoms we have if these [servicemembers] were not over here," she said. "It's really rewarding to come out here and thank them personally."
Ms. James understands the military lifestyle, having spent her childhood with a father in the Air Force. "I've traveled to so many different places and lived in 14 different spots," she said, "everything's influenced my music." SOURCE

RUNNING WITH THE ROCK STARS ON TOUR FOR THE TROOPS
|

BY LT. COL. ANN PERU KNABE
I’ll never make it as a rock star – I love my sleep too much. But I’m spending two weeks with some real rock stars on the Tour for the Troops; these artists rarely sleep.
Lt Col Knabe escorts the Tour for the Troops
The tour is sponsored by the Air Force Reserve, and features musician Kid Rock, comedian Carlos Mencia and singer / songwriter Jessie James.
And they do put in long, long days as they travel into combat zones. They’ll play seven concerts across the AOR (area of responsibility) and Europe before the tour ends.
Seven shows in less than 12 days is no easy feat. The performing artists are short on sleep as they spend hours setting up, performing sound tests, signing autographs, touring bases, posing for photos with the troops, and, of course, performing.
Despite the long hours cramped on a plane with equipment, the performers remain positive and focused, working to the point of exhaustion.
Sure, there are glitches, like the time we flew to a forward operating base in Iraq and left the autograph cards back at Kirkuk. But the troops were appreciative to have their first VIP guests in four years. And there are laughs, like the time Jessie had a brown hairy wolf spider scare her out of her room in Incirlik. |

"Tour for the Troops 2009", formerly known as Operation Season's Greetings, also included comedian Carlos Mencia and singer/songwriter Jessie James. The two-week event, which began in Europe and will travel throughout Southwest Asia, is their way of thanking the troops for their work and sacrifices.
The concert on FOB Warrior began with James, who sang several songs from her debut album. James, whose father is a colonel in the U.S. Air Force, hoped the event would allow service members to take a break from their duties to relax.
"I hope the troops take away a good time," James said. "I think they need a break from all this, just smile and act like boys and crazy girls."
James said her favorite part of performing for the troops was seeing them enjoy themselves and feels that it's important for celebrities to show their support because without the service members, they wouldn't have the freedoms to perform. READ MORE

JESSIE TO TOUR WITH KID ROCK
|
|
|
|
|
|
(Nov. 23, 2009 – New York, NY) Mercury Records’ newest star Jessie James will join Kid Rock and comedian Carlos Mencia as they entertain American troops in Southwest Asia and families in Europe on this year’s “Tour For the Troops,” beginning November 29. The daughter of an Air Force fighter pilot and a self-described military brat, Jessie will be a welcome addition to the two-week schedule (formerly known as Operation Season’s Greetings).
With two singles and videos, “Wanted” and “I Look So Good (Without You)” burning up the fast lane from her self-titled #1 pop debut album JESSIE JAMES – James has performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and on NBC’s “The Today Show.”
The video for another Jessie track, "My Cowboy," is being aired on CMT, while "My Cowboy" was featured in promos on ABC and CMT for CMA’s annual Country Music Festival (formerly known as Fanfare), The song was also heard in Sorority Wars, a Lifetime cable tv-movie which aired in October.
Jessie has also teamed with FOX-TV’s cable network SPEED™ as the face of their upcoming “SPEED™ Dream Ride” programming and promotion event, to run from Thanksgiving Day through New Year’s Day. Jessie has re-grooved her catchy rock gem “Bullet” (co-written with pal Katy Perry) – “Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?” – with a customized theme for the “Dream Ride” campaign. The new track underscores a wide multimedia spectrum of branding initiatives, surrounding multiple marathons of SPEED™’s most popular weekly programming, as well as the series premiere of Dangerous Drives, a new prime time series debuting Thanksgiving Day. SPEED™ will also highlight a national consumer microsite-driven “Dream Ride” mega-sweepstakes with a chance to win an extraordinary VIP experience at California’s historic Laguna Seca Raceway.
JESSIE JAMES made chart headlines when it rose to #1 on the iTunes Pop Album Chart and #1 on Amazon’s MP3 chart. It was fueled by the Top 20 Pop Song chart success of its first single “Wanted,” the full-throttle dance-rock scorcher that Jessie co-wrote with American Idol judge and hit songwriter Kara DioGuardi (along with Mitch Allen and David Hodges).
Jessie has become a sensation on Myspace, with more 11.8 million total plays and more than 2 million profile views on her MySpace website. Jessie's official site, http://www.thisisjessiejames.com, features streams of the full album with lyrics. Jessie updates her personal blog with the inside look at life on the road and the role of a pop star.

MAXIM COUNTRY MUSIC'S HOTTEST WOMEN

The San Antonio Express-News recently gave Jessie's album a great review. Check it out below!
OK, I admit it. New country-music sex kitten Jessie James' audacious Hot For Teacher-style video for My Cowboy got me interested in this record. But I was intrigued, too, by the clever, brazen lift of Bon Jovi's Dead or Alive, which matched the moxie of the steamy image.
James' debut is a rocking, modern effort that instantly recalls Katy Perry, Alanis Morissette and Shania Twain on the opening track, Wanted. It's a song that doesn't have any time for Taylor Swift-like sweetness, indecision or sexual discovery. The production is dance-floor slick: Bullet thrills with the same irresistible groove as Romeo Void's Never Say Never with a dash of Republica's Ready to Go, as well as Fergie and Gwen Stefani.
Country music's been going in this direction for a long time, but it's still a shock to hear hip-hop loops, samplers and triggers on these pop numbers, or to hear so little twang in James' Avril Lavigne impression on I Look So Good (Without You). It's no surprise to see that Perry and Kara DioGuardi have hands in the songwriting.
James shines equally well on quieter material such as Burnin' Bridges, which brings it all back home -- if only briefly. That might as well be a Poe homage on Psycho Girlfriend and Guilty.

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders did a routine during Jessie's performance and even went to Jessie's show at the House of Blues after the game. Here's what cheerleader Sydney Durso had to say about the experience:
This past Sunday, November 1, 2009, singer, Jessie James, performed during halftime at the Dallas Cowboys vs. Seattle Seahawks game. As DCC, we were given the opportunity to perform alongside Jessie in a country routine to 'Wanted' and 'My Cowboy' which was such an amazing experience! Meeting her beforehand was even better because we got to see how friendly and sweet she is! Not to mention, I wanted to steal her wardrobe! We started the game wearing our infamous blue and white uniforms with white boots, but when halftime came around we quickly threw on a cropped western shirt covered in rhinestones and glitter, tattered blue jean shorts, sparkly big belts, and of course, brown cowboy boots! With the game being only a few days after our October 25th game, we didn't have long to perfect our routine, but I know all of us worked our hardest to make our performance the best it could be! Fans at the game seemed to love it! Thank you to our director and choreographer, and everyone else who made this halftime performance possible, because we couldn't have done it without you! I hope all of you at the game enjoyed our performance, and if you haven't seen it, we should be uploading a video soon, so check it out!

DOTHAN EAGLE INTERVIEW

Sexy, edgy and bold describe country music diva Jessie James, the talented newcomer from Georgia who is the headline act Friday night at the National Peanut Festival. Google the 21-year-old Air Force brat, who was born on a military base in Italy, or do a YouTube search of her videos and you will find a Daisy Duke beauty with a unique and versatile style. Her first single, “Wanted” was released in April and her hip-hop song “Blue Jeans” was featured on the soundtrack to Confessions of a Shopaholic soundtrack. Earlier this year she toured with the Jonas Brothers. Her debut album, Jessie James, was released in August with Mercury Records.
Q: I have to ask about your name. Were your parents from Missouri?
A: Well, my name is Jessica Rose James. Jessica just because it is a pretty name and Rose after my great-great Aunt Rosie. When I started coming to Nashville, people started calling me Jessie for short and it just stuck.
Q: Watching your videos and reading about you, the name almost seems appropriate. You are quoted as saying you don’t like doing what you are told. Is that the outlaw in you?
A: Who the heck really likes doing what they are told, right? I guess, I have a vision of what I want, let’s say for instance, in my career and I don’t like being told I can’t do things this way or that way. I just want to be true to who I am.
Q: You couldn’t have been too rebellious, growing up a military brat?
A: I did grow up with lots of structure, but it was good structure. I never had rules until they were imposed upon me if I got out of line. For instance, when I was in high school, I used to talk on my cell phone really late at night and then I would always rush out the door to get to school on time. My mom would stand at the door with my to-go cup of coffee, keys and breakfast in a bag in an effort to get me there on time. So, I guess I created the rule “no talking on my cell past 10” because of it. I loved being around military kids, they always seemed very accepting at new schools. My dad is an Air Force pilot. You can learn more about him in my tune “Hurry Up Johnny.” It’s a pretty cool song.

Halloween & Cowboys...
Hiii Guys
We had an amazing time at the Dallas Cowboy’s game! The Dallas Cowboy’s Cheerleaders surprised me when they came out wearing; get this….cut off jeans and cowgirl boots! They rocked it dancing to “My Cowboy,” and “Wanted.” I had so much fun singing, and the Cowboy’s won, guess I must be good luck or something. Ha ha! Check out the pics of the cheerleaders at my show at the House of Blues in Dallas. It was a great show, thanks so much for coming out, we rocked the house! I am so glad we were able to keep that show on the schedule. I really appreciate your understanding with the change in my schedule. It has been very important that I take the time to prepare for my special tour coming up later this month, and when I can give the details you will understand why, I promise!! In the mean time, thanks again for being such wonderful fans. I love seeing each and every one of you at my shows and know that I get to do what I love because of you.
Till next time, lots of love, Jessie
P.S. Have you seen the “My Cowboy” video on CMT, yet? I am so proud of it. Please make sure and request it. You have GOT to hear Jamey Johnson’s voice!!! He is the best. Jessie

Sometimes things in life just come at you in different directions..ya know? I promise I will be coming to your town really soon and I can't wait! Okay, for the updates....I am the new dream girl for SPEED and recently shot a couple commercial in Miami, LA and Charlotte and had an amazing time. I even got to co-host a show with Rock Program Director and host of Pink's "All Out," Willie B-. I'm really excited for you all to see them. Tune in to SPEED this Fall where you can hear "Bullet" as the theme song!! As many of you know, I shot "My Cowboy" video in Nashville and had a blast! The premier will be on CMT on Oct. 26. And...I'm attending the CMA's this year!!! It is going to be a dream come true for me. Be sure to watch as "My Cowboy," is the theme song! ha! Can you believe it? Now...for the super exciting news, well, I can't really let the cat all of the way out of the bag, BUT....the tour that I am embarking on is one that I have hoped and prayed for since I can remember. It is extremely important to me and something I hold near and dear to my heart. Sorry I can't let you know more right now, but I promise as soon as I can, I will twitter it, so if you aren't following me, get on it yall! And don't forget to watch MTV, where I"m being featured as artist of the week. I had an amazing time with those guys shooting the skits and just singing around the pool. The MTV family has been so very good to me. And of course, I really want to thank all of you, for being the most wonderful fans in the world!!!! From the bottom of my heart, know I love each and every one of you. Much love till next time,
Jessie

FALL TOUR UPDATE
|
|
|
|
|
|
Jessie will no longer be joining Push Play for most of their co-headlining tour dates dates this fall. We do not currently have a list of all the canceled shows, so if you have tickets be sure to check with the venue or ticket outlet to see if the concert is still on. Some shows have been completely canceled, while others will still go on with just Push Play.
I know that there is a reason behind this cancellation and I'm confident that Jessie will be doing something even more exciting in the very near future. I'm sure Jessie's team is hard at work to make things better and I know she can't wait to get out on the road and see all of her fans. Stay tuned to JessieJamesFan.com for more info. Remember, even though these shows were canceled, there is so much more to come...
The shows Jessie will definitely not be performing at (or have been completely cancelled) include:
October 8, 2009: Minneapolis, MN
October 16, 2009: Ithaca, NY
October 27, 2009: Atlanta, GA

SUPERPOPMAGIC INTERVIEW CONCERT
|
|
|
|
|
|
Q1: Your real name is actually Jessica James. It's the perfect stage name without it being a stage name! But if you were to choose a stage name, what would it be and why?
Georgiana Baglio. The last name is my italian grandmother's last name.
Q2: You were born on a military base in Italy. That's very interesting. Did you spend some time in Italy before moving to Georgia?
Only 2 years. I then moved to 10 more places before living in Georgia.
Q3: You're actually my favorite artist! You incorporate alot of sounds and styles onto the album. Country, pop, rock, even a little R&B on "Burn It Up" and "Psycho Girlfriend" and hip-hop on "Blue Jeans". Was that what you were going for?
I love all kinds of music, so I wanted to be able to put them all into one song. So it's definitely what I was going for.
Q4: How was it like working with:
Toby Gad, Katy Perry, Kara DioGaurdi, Darkchild, Randy Houser, Savan Kotecha, Mitch Allen.
It was great! They are all very talented. I ADORE Savan and especially Randy Houser. I'm still very good friends with those two.
Q5: How was it like getting "Blue Jeans" on the Confessions of a Shopaholic soundtrack?
I cried when i saw it in the movies. I get very emotional, this is my dream.

|
|
|
|
After storming pop radio with "Wanted," and the new single, "I Look So Good (Without You)," Jessie is ready to take on yet another genre. This time, she has her sights set on country. Due to a strong demand from country radio and TV, "My Cowboy," a song produced by country superstar John Rich, will be released. After being featured on PerezHilton.com, the song garnered widespread attention. Jessie will be filming a video for "My Cowboy" soon, and the song will also be featured in the promos for the Country Music Festival, the CMA Awards, and will be heard in Sorority Wars, a Lifetime cable tv-movie set to air in October.
